Solar energy has been more and more popular in recent years as more people and companies realize how beneficial it is to use solar panels to provide electricity. Reducing dependency on conventional electricity sources while fulfilling energy needs is possible with solar power’s economical and sustainable approach.
There are many benefits associated with solar energy for consumers and the environment. People can create their own electricity and lessen their carbon footprint by using the sun’s power. Solar panels are also a wise long-term investment because they require no upkeep and can endure for decades.
On February 13, 2024, the Union Cabinet, led by PM Shri Narendra Modi, approved the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, allocating a total budget of Rs. 75,021 crore to support rooftop solar panel installation and provide free electricity to one crore households monthly for up to 300 units.
With a maximum of 3 kW, the program provides a Central Financial Assistance (CFA) of 60% for systems with a capacity of 2 kW and 40% for additional system expenditures for systems with a capacity between 2 and 3 kW. Beneficiaries are eligible for a subsidy of Rs 30,000 for a 1 kW system, Rs 60,000 for a 2 kW system, and Rs 78,000 for a 3 kW system or more at the current benchmark pricing.
Through the use of rooftop solar in residential settings, the proposed program seeks to install 30 GW of solar capacity, generate 1000 BUs of energy, and reduce CO2 equivalent emissions by 720 million tonnes over the course of the 25-year rooftop system lifespan.
Combining cutting-edge technology with conventional solar panel manufacturing Installing solar energy systems in homes can lead to countless chances to improve their administration, efficiency, and oversight. Modern technology, including smart inverters and monitoring systems, makes it possible to track and optimize energy production in real time.
With the help of these cutting-edge instruments, customers can precisely track the performance of their solar panels, spot any problems, and make the required corrections to guarantee maximum efficiency
.
Moreover, the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) into solar rooftop panels offers a more creative and efficient way to use solar energy.Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered algorithms can evaluate large amounts of data to identify patterns and trends that lead to enhanced system performance.
Use of AI can be beneficial for consumers during rooftop installation in following ways:-
Furthermore, the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in solar panel installations facilitates smooth communication among equipment, establishing a networked ecosystem that amplifies the total performance of the system. Through mutual communication, IoT devices can automatically modify energy production in response to many circumstances such as weather and energy demand.
Use of IoT can be beneficial for consumers during rooftop installation in following ways:-
Further while implementation of AI and IoT also has following concerns and challenges which need to overcome such as:
