Solar energy has been more and more popular in recent years as more people and companies realize how beneficial it is to use solar panels to provide electricity. Reducing dependency on conventional electricity sources while fulfilling energy needs is possible with solar power’s economical and sustainable approach.

There are many benefits associated with solar energy for consumers and the environment. People can create their own electricity and lessen their carbon footprint by using the sun’s power. Solar panels are also a wise long-term investment because they require no upkeep and can endure for decades.

On February 13, 2024, the Union Cabinet, led by PM Shri Narendra Modi, approved the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, allocating a total budget of Rs. 75,021 crore to support rooftop solar panel installation and provide free electricity to one crore households monthly for up to 300 units.

With a maximum of 3 kW, the program provides a Central Financial Assistance (CFA) of 60% for systems with a capacity of 2 kW and 40% for additional system expenditures for systems with a capacity between 2 and 3 kW. Beneficiaries are eligible for a subsidy of Rs 30,000 for a 1 kW system, Rs 60,000 for a 2 kW system, and Rs 78,000 for a 3 kW system or more at the current benchmark pricing.

Through the use of rooftop solar in residential settings, the proposed program seeks to install 30 GW of solar capacity, generate 1000 BUs of energy, and reduce CO2 equivalent emissions by 720 million tonnes over the course of the 25-year rooftop system lifespan.

Combining cutting-edge technology with conventional solar panel manufacturing Installing solar energy systems in homes can lead to countless chances to improve their administration, efficiency, and oversight. Modern technology, including smart inverters and monitoring systems, makes it possible to track and optimize energy production in real time.

With the help of these cutting-edge instruments, customers can precisely track the performance of their solar panels, spot any problems, and make the required corrections to guarantee maximum efficiency

.
Moreover, the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) into solar rooftop panels offers a more creative and efficient way to use solar energy.Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered algorithms can evaluate large amounts of data to identify patterns and trends that lead to enhanced system performance.

Use of AI can be beneficial for consumers during rooftop installation in following ways:-

  1. Predictive Maintenance: By precisely predicting maintenance requirements, AI systems can minimize downtime and increase the lifespan of solar panels.
    b. Performance Analysis: Artificial intelligence (AI) tools evaluate data to maximize the efficiency of solar panels and other photovoltaic (PV) components, adapting to various factors such as weather.
    c. Battery Management: AI maximizes storage efficiency by optimizing battery charging and discharging.
    d. Grid Integration: Artificial intelligence algorithms oversee the integration of solar energy into the electrical grid, efficiently balancing supply and demand.
    e. Smart Energy Distribution: AI makes dynamic energy distribution possible, guaranteeing the best possible use of solar energy in a variety of industries.
    f. Accurate Energy Production Forecasting: Artificial Intelligence can help with grid management and energy distribution by offering precise energy production forecasts.

Furthermore, the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in solar panel installations facilitates smooth communication among equipment, establishing a networked ecosystem that amplifies the total performance of the system. Through mutual communication, IoT devices can automatically modify energy production in response to many circumstances such as weather and energy demand.

Use of IoT can be beneficial for consumers during rooftop installation in following ways:-

  1. Real-time Monitoring: The performance of solar rooftop panels can be tracked in real-time by installing Internet of Things (IoT) sensors on them. This allows for the prompt identification of any problems as well as the taking of urgent corrective action to guarantee ongoing efficiency.

  2. electricity Generation Monitoring: You can use Internet of Things devices to track how much electricity your rooftop solar panels are producing. The performance of the panels may then be optimized and energy production can be maximized using this data.

  3. Tracking System Performance: The complete solar energy system, including panels, inverters, and other components, may be watched for any performance problems using Internet of Things devices. This proactive strategy aids in the prompt identification and handling of possible issues.

  4. Maintenance Scheduling: Maintenance plans for solar rooftop panels can be created by utilizing IoT technologies.

Further while implementation of AI and IoT also has following concerns and challenges which need to overcome such as:

  1. Addressing privacy and data security issues with AI and IoT systems.

    b. High Initial Costs: Looking at ways to integrate AI into solar energy systems at a reasonable price.
    c. Technical expertise: Training personnel with the necessary skills to efficiently oversee AI-driven solar. energysystems

In conclusion, PM Surya ghar Yojna’s technological integration during solar panel installations will maximize overall system performance and energy efficiency. Through the utilization of advanced technology and solar energy, we can create a future that is more energy-efficient and sustainable.
