VARIABLE REFRIGERANT VOLUME (VRV) SYSTEM

There are several air-conditioning technologies that have been developed over the years. One such technology is the development of variable refrigerant volume (VRV) system developed by Japanese air-conditioning company “Daikin”. They developed this technology about 4 decades ago and have even patented the name “VRV”. Other companies, which are into this technology, have named the same technology as variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system. As the name indicates, the amount of refrigerant circulated in the system varies depending upon the load requirements in the building. There are multiple indoor units but only one outdoor unit (which has multiple compressors) in VRV system. The system automatically shuts off when there is no load in the building. It enables the individual to have control in their air-conditioning zones of the building and thereby is an energy efficient technology.
