However, there are some programs that do not require the GRE, so it is important to check with each program to see if it is required.

Module of GRE  

The GRE exam consists of three main sections, each designed to measure different skills and abilities:

1. Verbal Reasoning: This section evaluates your ability to analyse and comprehend written material. It includes reading comprehension passages, sentence equivalence, and text completion questions to assess your command of the English language.

1. Quantitative Reasoning: The QR section tests your quantitative problem-solving skills. It includes multiple-choice and numeric entry questions that measure your understanding of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis.

1. Analytical Writing: In this section, you must write two essays – an “Issue Task” essay that presents an argument and an “Argument Task” essay where you critique a given argument. This section assesses your critical thinking and analytical writing abilities.

Types of GRE Exams

There are two types of GRE exams: the General and the Subject Tests. The General Test is the most common GRE test required for admission to most graduate programs. The Subject Tests are optional and are designed to measure your knowledge in specific subject areas, such as biology, chemistry, or psychology.

The GRE General Test is required for admission to many graduate programs, including business, law, and engineering. However, there are some programs that do not require the GRE, so it is important to check with each program to see if it is required.

The test is scored on a scale of 130 to 170, with 150 being the average score.

• Subjects Tests

The GRE Subject Tests are optional and are designed to measure your knowledge in specific subject areas, such as biology, chemistry, physics,or psychology.

The GRE Subject Tests are scored on a scale of 200 to 800, with 500 being the average score.

Time Duration

The GRE exam has a total testing time of approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Candidates who have taken the GRE should be aware that their GRE scores are valid for five years from the exam date.
