Protecting the health of children is the first duty of every family and nation. Children are the future of the country. Parents try to feed their children even after being hungry themselves.

It is a matter of concern that even after so many years of independence, the rate of malnutrition among children is very high in India. In Chhattisgarh, about 38% children are malnourished.  Due to malnutrition, children’s body’s ability to fight disease decreases and often fatal diseases like anemia and malaria surround them.

Malnutrition also has a bad effect on the mental development of children, they are not able to study properly and fall behind in the class. Physically malnourished children are always weak. Malnutrition in girls is especially fatal.  Anemia starts in girls, if the girls are already malnourished, then the problem increases even more.

ICDS is the biggest scheme of the nation to fight malnutrition.  When this scheme was started on October , 1976, it was also started in Tokapal development block of Bastar along with other 33 development blocks of the country.

The Government of Chhattisgarh is running various schemes to end malnutrition.  Like the CM Nutrition Campaign, weight festival weight festival, mahatari jatan yojna etc.

The rate of malnutrition in Chhattisgarh was 42% at the time of state formation, which has come down to 20% at present. I am sure that when the Chief Minister’s nutrition campaign moves forward in Chhattisgarh, these things will be kept in the center.  The founders of the program have to understand that it is necessary to give postic diet for proper nutrition, but just giving nutritious diet is not enough, for this, complete thinking is required.

“Winning from malnutrition is a matter of respect for the mind like pride”
