It is a well-known fact that air-conditioning system contributes to 40 to 50% of the total electrical load in the building. Most of the systems are of vapour compression type, which are driven by electrical energy produced from fossil fuels. On one side, the fossil fuels are depleting day by day and on the other side the refrigerants employed in these vapour compression systems are polluting the environment. To overcome these challenges, it is inferred from several literatures that vapour absorption system is a good alternative to the conventional vapour compression system. Two very important features of a vapour absorption system are the utilization of environment friendly working fluids and very less requirement of electrical energy. These two features makes the vapour absorption system popular as it does not pollute the environment and also electrical energy consumption from fossil fuels is very less compared to a vapor compression system.
