The advent of new technology has completely revolutionized business and business decision making. The emergence of modern technology like Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, robotics etc have placed the business operations to a completely new level of sophistication.
Business Management as a field has always been receptive to the changes and has always been a change oriented, dynamic and most industry oriented field, paving the way for newer business concepts and practices based on the changing market behavior. The business schools all around the globe have been at the forefront to facilitate all the changes required to make business education in line with the dynamic business environment.
In today’s challenging times where the sophistication of the business world is increasing day by day, we need business professionals who are in line with the changing technology in the field. Gone are the days when we needed managers who can just tally balance sheet in physical books. Today we need managers who are good at technology related to global businesses and are able to manage never ending flow of data.
Now the business schools have a new kind of challenge, which is very technical in nature, which requires a lot of flexibility amongst the professors who can be students and professors at the same time. For producing managers in the present scenario, business schools need a lot of dynamism in the curriculum. There is a need for professors to become informal leaders rather than old school professors with golden shields in between them and their students. The behavioral change required in professors can be achieved only by having professors who are students for life. The modern era needs professors who are dynamic and have the ability to learn new skills at a faster pace than students.
Modern business professionals need to have a basic knowledge of all the engineering fields plus they should be having skills required in the business world too. There is a requirement for management freshers who are good in technology, have excellent soft skills and most importantly have good human skills.
To make modern managers, B-Schools need to adapt themselves to the market changes. They need to become more technologically advanced and the professors need to learn modern technology.
The modern managers should be techno-managers and not just managers with the knowledge of finance, marketing, HR etc. Rather they should have excellent knowledge of technology and should be well averse with skills like coding, data analytics, AI etc.
