Here is some juicy material about Twitter:
Whether you are a beginner with a fresh Twitter account or have been tasked with growing an account for an established brand, it’s never a bad idea to learn some new tips and ways to make your twitter experience a success.
Here are a few interesting Twitter tips which will help you make the best out of it.
Use a good profile image: Much like a good meta description/headline is valuable for a blog post, a good image is a must for your profile. While Twitter will hand out its default image, be sure to change it right away. Generally, anyone without a profile picture is considered unprofessional in the Twittersphere. Your image should be simple yet engaging.
Follow peers and competitors: Twitter is a unique way to gain insights about your industry, peers and competition. By following their accounts, you can see what they’re doing, what issues they’re focused on, and how they interact and engage with people.
Tweet early & often: This tip is particularly important if you’re just getting started with Twitter. In the early stages, you don’t have any base as far as how often to tweet or the best times to tweet.
You also need to be aware that your followers don’t all check Twitter at the same time. Some people might check in the morning and then not again until later in the evening. In order to get as much reach as possible, try tweeting throughout the day.
Notice when you’re over-saturating your followers: While you’re sending out all the tweets, you also want to avoid going to extremes.
Tweeting every five minutes can be a bit much for your followers. The last thing you want is for your audience to get annoyed with all your tweets and unfollow you. If you increase your tweet frequency and notice your engagement starts to drop, it could be a sign that you’re annoying your followers.
Jump on relevant trending topics: Speaking of engaging oneself, a simple way to get started is to join in on trending topics. Take a look at the trending topics on Twitter, which typically have an accompanying hashtags. Then join in on the conversations when it’s relevant.
Take advantage of 280 characters: In 2017, Twitter made the decision expand its character limit from 140 to 280. And while people may have their opinions on whether it was a good or bad idea, the reality is it lets you fit more in each tweet. Don’t take it for granted.
Now, you can take your tweets beyond a couple sentences and expand on a little bit and get creative.
Automate when it makes sense: There’s a good and bad side to social media automation. It can be an extremely helpful way to be more productive, or turn your Twitter account into a complete chat tool that nobody wants to deal with. The key to using Twitter automation well is to be selective about what and how you automate.
Some good examples of Twitter automation would be:
Use retweet with comment: It has become pretty common practice to Retweet people or brands when you want to share something interesting someone else tweeted. However, you can take things a little further and layer on engagement by using retweet with comment instead.
The difference is you’re able to add commentary onto the retweet instead of just re-sharing what someone else tweeted. That way it’s a bit more personalized and adds additional value for your audience.
Use advanced search: Looking for something very specific? Use Twitter’s advanced search feature to find it. You can filter your search by words, phrases, hashtags, dates, times, location, and more.
Think before you tweet: You must think before you start typing. Tweets have the ability to go viral in a matter of seconds, and any information you put forth could come back to haunt you in the future.
Use landscape-oriented images: For the best appearance on a Twitter feed, use landscape-oriented images (2:1 dimension).
