EMOTIONAL  REGULATION

 

“Emotional regulation refers to the process by which individuals influence which emotions they have, when they have them, and how they experience and express their feelings. Emotional regulation can be automatic or controlled, conscious or unconscious, and may have effects at one or more points in the emotion producing process.”(Gross, 1998, p. 275).

Three components are involved in emotional regulation:

• Taking actions based on feelings.

• preventing actions that are prompted by emotions.

• Stimulating emotional responses.

A modifier is emotional regulation; It motivates us to attend to it in a way that won’t cause stress or fear and helps us sort through the information to find the most important parts.

People who don’t know how to control their emotions are more likely to experience mood polarities; Their feelings would always dictate their actions and patterns of behavior.

·         Self awareness : abilities that can help in developing thoughtful rule and supporting through out everyday life.

·         Mindfulness: Give yourself a few choices and investigate your sentiments.

·         All aspects of the external world, including our body, are examined and identified through mindful awareness.

·         The process of cognitive reappraisal involves altering our mental models. Adaptability Emotional dysregulation reduces our capacity to adapt to changes in our lives.

·         Self-empathy: Saving some time for ourselves consistently is an extraordinary method for building close to home guideline abilities.

·         Emotional support Using mindful self-awareness to seek emotional support within ourselves
