PTE

PTE, or Pearson Test of English, is an English language proficiency test developed by Pearson Education. The PTE exam is recognised by approximately 3000 universities, institutions, and governments worldwide, including the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

The PTE exam is a computer-based English language proficiency test that assesses a candidate’s English language proficiency for academic or immigration purposes. The test evaluates non-native English speakers’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

If you want to study or work in an English-speaking country, then taking the PTE exam is required. Although, it may vary from country to country, as they may have some specific requirements or score thresholds.

There are two types of PTE tests: PTE Academic and PTE General.

  • PTE Academic is designed for students who want to study at an English-speaking university. It assesses a person’s reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. It is for non-native English speakers who want to pursue academic opportunities abroad.

The total duration of the PTE Academic exam is approximately 3 hours.

The PTE Academic score is a number between 10 and 90. A score of 65 or higher is generally considered to be a good score.

The PTE Academic score is valid for two years.

  • PTE General is designed for people who want to work or live in an English-speaking environment. It assesses a person’s reading, writing, listening, speaking skills and grammar and vocabulary knowledge. It is intended for individuals who must prove their English proficiency for professional or personal purposes.

Generally, it ranges from 2 hours 35 minutes to 3 hours.

The PTE General score is a number between 10 and 90. A score of 65 or higher is generally considered to be a good score.
