Polygeneration system refers to a system, which produces more than 3 outputs simultaneously in a thermodynamic cycle. In our country, Cogeneration systems i.e. systems that produces simultaneous heat and power have become very popular and quite common in the power sector. Due to the advancement in the technology, researchers are now focusing on Trigeneration and even Polygeneration systems. The outputs in Polygeneration systems are cooling, heating, drying and power in a thermodynamic cycle. There are Polygeneration systems developed for producing potable drinking water in addition to other outputs such as heating, cooling and power. Though there are multiple outputs in such systems, plenty of research needs to be done in order to make the total cost of the system economical and also to improve the overall efficiency of the system.
