What Is The Future And Scope Of Electrical Engineers?

A human being without electricity is like a bird without wings. A bird without wings cannot fly. Similarly, a human being without electricity cannot imagine to lead his life successfully. Electricity is one of the greatest magics of Science. Electrical Engineering is a core branch in the field of Science of Engineering. It is one of the fastest growing fields of engineering that involves study, research and application of electricity and electronics. It is the most interesting branch of engineering because it involves study of electrical, computer, electronics and communication. Electrical Engineering deals with the generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electrical energy.  

Electrical engineers are very much in demand in India as well as abroad. In the recent years, from households to industries everywhere there is a necessity of electricity to function well; offering huge opportunities to electrical or electrical and electronics engineers. In order to be appointed as an electrical engineer, a student or candidate must have a B.E./B. Tech degree in Electrical Engineering. Ample of job opportunities are available in both private and public sectors like electricity board and utility companies, railways, electrical design and consultancy firms and various types of manufacturing companies. These engineers can work in thermal or hydroelectric power plants, nuclear power plants, solar power plants, wind power plants and in many other avenues.

After getting degree in Electrical Engineering, they can join well-known companies like ABB (ASEA Brown Boveri), Crompton Greaves Limited, Siemens Ltd, Bajaj International Private Ltd, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Reliance Power Ltd, Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL), Coal India Limited (CIL), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Centre for Electronics Design and Technology, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), Wipro Lighting and Havells India Limited.

After getting a PG degree in Electrical Engineering, they can also go into the field of teaching or join a research scholar in research lab. Teaching career is a noble and rewarding profession with attractive remuneration packages.

Electrical engineers can appear for PSUs which make them eligible for various government jobs.  With a rank within 500 in ‘GATE’, electrical engineers have opportunities to join Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL), National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, (BPCL), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC)and other MAHARATNAS and NAVRATNAS.

Conclusion- Electrical Engineers have a global arena of options available to them but they have to tap it to become successful.
